A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) Sugar Cane, 300 gsm, Archival Paper

(Limited to 35 Prints, Signed and Numbered)

Inspired by my best friend Emma Leaning and her musing on what numbers actually count when our days are numbered.

The Story

Society fixates on youth, and youth is often symbolised through flowers in bloom. As I turn 40 this year, I wanted to redefine that symbolism through the lessons nature teaches us. Aging isn't about depreciating over time — it's about seasons, evolution, and the understanding that life is a journey rather than a single destination.

The Colour

The chrysanthemum's petals layer in a deep royal purple-pink, voluminous and unrestrained — a colour I chose to reflect the fullness that comes with age, rather than its fading. Green anchors the piece beneath it, in lush, bottle-green leaves, marking growth that continues long after the bloom itself.

The Archival Paper

I've selected Hahnemühle Sugar Cane 300 gsm paper for its clearly defined surface texture and impressive print quality, giving the artwork outstanding expressiveness and soul.
