Numbers in Nature - Original Painting
Acrylic on Canvas
91.4 x 61 cm (36 x 24 inches)
Inspired by my best friend, Emma Leaning, and her musings on what numbers truly count when our days are numbered, this piece reframes her reflections through the lessons nature teaches us about the seasons of life. Rather than depreciating with each passing day, we are meant to evolve through our own seasons — understanding life as a journey, not a single destination.
While the chrysanthemum holds different meanings across cultures, the purple-pink chrysanthemum here alludes to its Japanese symbolism of the sun, longevity, and rejuvenation.
On Colour
The skin tones are rendered in an array of shades, reflecting that this painting is for all women, regardless of race or culture. I hope this message resonates with every woman who sees it.
