Angela Flanders Artisan Perfumery
20 cm x 25 cm Fine Art Print (Limited to 35 Prints, Signed and Numbered)
Angela Flanders is East London's oldest independent perfumery, crafting luxurious perfumes from their studio on Columbia Road.
The Story
Angela Flanders relaunches Artisan in the City as Iconic Female Artisan in the City, bringing her iconic handcrafted perfumes into a new chapter.
This painting is steeped in drama and theatre, reflecting Angela's background in costume design. The composition is staged like a scene from a story about to unfold — a chapter poised on the edge of beginning.
Because scent is so deeply woven into memory and narrative, I wanted the fragrance bottles in the window to hold the chapters of a woman's life. The scent we wore at eighteen is rarely the one we reach for at forty.
The Colour
Green is the main character in this painting. As green is the colour of life, it symbolises the rich, layered tones found in scent — giving life and renewal to our daily life. It's an evergreen to reflect the way perfume, much like the right love of your life, is long-lasting: it matures with time, evolving and deepening the longer you wear it.
The Archival Paper
I've selected William Morris Hahnemühle 310gsm paper for its rich, luxurious texture and brilliant matte-white finish, which allows the layered tones to show through with real clarity.
