The Story
We use our hands for almost everything: carrying what's heavy, gripping a pen to write, gesturing, sometimes rudely, sometimes lovingly. They translate feeling into action without us ever needing to think about it.
This piece sits in that quiet contradiction, one I know most intimately through motherhood. A mother's hand can register the faintest sensation, the flutter of a newborn's grip, the warmth of a small palm inside hers, and in the same breath carry, steady, and hold up an entire world.
The Colour
The palette rests in a soft, milky blue, the colour of early morning, of a nursery at rest, of the quiet hours held between mother and child.
Threaded through it is the memory of lilies. Their scent has always meant, to me, the presence of a mother nearby: soft, generous, a little heady, the kind that lingers in a room long after she's left it.
